10 Kilowatt Wind Turbine - The Green Investment for the Future
The BWC EXCEL 10KW turbine was first introduced in 1983 and has been installed at over 1600 sites around the world, it is a very high quality 6.7 meter (22 ft) diameter machine designed for high reliability, low maintenance and automatic operation in adverse weather conditions.

- This turbine comes with the longest manufacturer’s warranty (10 years) in the industry and is manufactured by Bergey Wind, America’s leading manufacturer of wind turbines.
- The manufacturers warranty and the service plan Ewind offers with this turbine exceeds the average payback time of the machine fully installed at an average site in the UK.
- This 10KW wind turbine is available in two main configurations, either Off-grid (battery charging) or grid-tied. Off-grid Battery charging units can be supplied with outputs of 24, 48, 120 or 240 VDC and are ideally suited for remote agricultural businesses, villages, eco-tourism resorts, and factories and Tel Co/IP hosting sites.
|
Grid-tied, the 10KW wind turbine will provide electrical output sufficient to power a large family home, business or agricultural premises with consumption less than 14,000 KWH per annum.
The power output of a wind turbine is proportional to the cube of the wind speed, therefore a small increase in wind speed gives a big increase in output in KWH.
The chart below shows how tower heights can have a positive effect on increasing the output of the turbine:

The all new GridTek 10 Inverter which has been developed by Bergey Wind is the most advanced in the industry and it carries a full UL certification to the latest utility standards.
The Ewind 10KW turbines are often mounted on a visually appealing guyed lattice tower and are available in heights of 18 m (60 ft.) to 43 m (140 ft.). Tilt-up versions of these towers are available for sites without crane access. Non-guyed lattice type towers and monopoles (tapered tubular) towers are also available to heights of 37 m (120 ft) are available at additional cost.
Turbine output and approximate timeframe for return on investment exclusive of grant funding:
For the purpose of this illustration this turbine is installed at an average site in the UK with an average mean wind speed of 5 m/s
Assuming that your annual electrical consumption is 10,000KWH
Each year this turbine will:
- Save around £975 in utility expenses.
- Save 5,406kg C02 Emissions
- Provide a Carbon saving of 1,475.8kg
- Earn £1,875 for your ROCs
- Earn around 30p per KWH from the new Grid Feed in Tariff for wind turbines of this size from April 2010, providing an income of £750 for the feed in of 2,500KWH
Over ten years this turbine will:
- Save you at least £9,750 in utility expenses
- Earn you at least £18,750 in ROCs
- Earn you at least £7,500 through the Grid Feed-In Tariff
At an average site this turbine provides a return on investment in less than 12 years.
The turbine has a life span of at least 30 years before overhauling core components, providing free electricity long after the turbine has paid for itself.
Ewind shall provide all customers with an accurate ROI forecast after conducting our initial site survey and feasibility study.
